Blog Post #7 – Dear Diary
This week has been particularly challenging for most of the people in my life – being young and creative is the kind of blessing that often makes you want to jump from the nearest bridge. Joan Didion (who has great wisdom for every occasion) wrote something so memorable in one of my favourite essays “Goodbye to All That”:
One of the mixed blessings of being twenty and twenty-one and even twenty-three is the conviction that nothing like this, all evidence to the contrary notwithstanding, has ever happened to anyone before.
I try to remember these words when my bank balance drops below zero or another share house doesn’t work out but It’s easy to feel overwhelmed and to wonder whether things will ever get better. These photos were taken an hour before I had one of those ‘everythingistheworst’ anxiety attacks and cried in front of everyone. With any luck though, when I’m old all I’ll remember is our impromptu photo shoot and how having such beautiful (read: loving, supportive, fun) friends always made life easier.
